Dr. Johnson is a licensed psychologist in Wichita, Ks. who has specialized in the area of body image, weight management and eating disorders for the last 10 years. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas, and did her post doctoral training at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Johnson is a frequent speaker for groups covering subjects of body image, emotional eating, and wellness. She is a full partner at BMSPA, Behavioral Medicine Specialists P.A., and serves as a clinical instructor at the University of Kansas Medical Center, also located in Wichita, Ks.
Many of us exist in an unhappy state with our bodies. We want a change, but get stuck. Maybe we keep trying the same things over and over and over again. And, perhaps we are not trying anything at all.

Twelve-month consultation-liaison position providing health psychology services including psychological assessment, diagnosis and treatment to patients with medical problems and thier families. Typical psychological problems included chronic pain, behavioral and feeding issues, pre-operative anxiety, adjustment to disability, depression, medical non-compliance, weight management, and incongruent pain. Participated as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team and work in several modalities including individual, group and family therapy. Programs developed included a multidisciplinary approach to adolescent weight management.

Twelve-month APA accredited internship program involving quarterly rotations in the areas of Adult Inpatient Services, Consultation and Liaison Services, Child Evaluation and Consultation, and Eating Disorders. Involved in extensive outpatient experience through the medical school and the Wichita State University Counseling and Testing Center. Child adolescent, adult and geriatric inpatient therapy and psychological assessment experience was gained as well as supervision and co-therapy involving several marriage and family cases. Extra experience in lecturing, grant writing, community outreach and group therapy was gained in the area of eating disorders.
